Soccer Recap: Batesburg-Leesville Comes Up Short

There was early excitement for Batesburg-Leesville after they claimed the first score on Friday, but it was Saluda who ended up claiming the real prize. While the 2-2 score might suggest a draw, it was the Tigers who were credited with the victory. The Saluda Tigers got it done in the shootout by posting four goals to the Batesburg-Leesville Panthers' two. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against Saluda this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 9-1 on April 1st.

Angel Gerardo wasn't going to let Saluda walk away unscathed as he scored both of Batesburg-Leesville's goals, bringing his season total up to four goals.

This is the second loss in a row for Batesburg-Leesville and nudges their season record down to 2-10. As for Saluda, they now have a winning record of 7-6.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Batesburg-Leesville will challenge Emerald at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Saluda, they will square off against White Knoll at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
