Softball Recap: Morton Comes Up Short

Morton fought the good fight in their extra-innings game against Northeast Jones on Thursday but wound up with a less-than-desirable result. They fell 10-7 to the Northeast Jones Tigers. The Panthers' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it five in a row.

Nylah Laster and Isi Castillo did some serious damage despite the final result: Laster scored a run while going 2-for-3, while Castillo scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. What's more, Laster posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024.

Morton's loss dropped their record down to 1-6. As for Northeast Jones, the win was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 8-2.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Northeast Jones beat Morton by a score of 13-3 later that day.
