Soccer Game Preview: Washington vs. Elsberry

The Washington Bluejays will head out on the road to square off against the Elsberry Indians at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. Washington's last four matches have been decided by no more than a goal, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Washington is probably headed into the matchup with a chip on their shoulder considering Union just ended the team's three-match winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of the Wildcats by a score of 1-0. The contest was a 0-0 toss-up at halftime, but Washington couldn't quite close it out.

Meanwhile, Wednesday just wasn't the day for Elsberry's offense. They fell 2-0 to Hazelwood Central two weeks ago.

Elsberry's defeat dropped their record down to 0-4. As for Washington, their loss dropped their record down to 4-7.

Washington took their win against Elsberry in their previous meeting back in October of 2024 by a conclusive 4-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Bluejays since the squad won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
