Basketball Recap: Celeste Takes a Loss

Celeste had lost three straight at home, but on Friday they dropped down to 16-15 to make it four. They fell just short of the Trenton Tigers by a score of 63-61. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest loss the Blue Devils have suffered since December 6, 2025.

As for Trenton, their win ended a seven-game drought on the road and puts them at 12-18. Their offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Trenton was led to victory by Zoey Morales and Cheyenne Capps. Morales dropped a double-double with 15 points and 13 rebounds, while Capps shot 43% from the field to rack up 27 points and five steals. With that strong performance, Morales is now averaging an impressive 8.2 boards per game. Brittan Hall also deserves some recognition as she posted her first assist of the season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Celeste is set to challenge their familiar foe Whitewright at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Meanwhile, Trenton will take on rival Honey Grove at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday.
