Baseball Game Preview: Chico Dragons vs. Poolville Monarchs

The Chico Dragons will square off against the Poolville Monarchs at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The squads are rolling into the game with opposing streaks: Chico has struggled recently with three losses in a row, while Poolville will arrive with six straight victories.

Wednesday just wasn't the day for Chico's offense. They came up short against Trinity Christian on Wednesday, falling 11-0.

Meanwhile, Poolville got themselves on the board against Electra on Thursday, but Electra never followed suit. Everything went their way against the Tigers as they made off with a 10-0 win. Considering the Monarchs have won seven matchups by more than six runs this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.

Poolville's victory was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 9-3. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.8 runs on average over those games. As for Chico, their defeat dropped their record down to 4-12-1.

Chico couldn't quite finish off Poolville in their previous matchup back in March of 2021 and fell 8-6. Can Chico avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
