Baseball Recap: Maranatha Christian Comes Up Short

Maranatha Christian had lost three straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 3-17 to make it four. They fell just short of the Francis Parker Lancers by a score of 8-7. The Eagles were not able to repeat the success they had when they faced the Lancers earlier this season, when they won 13-2.

Maranatha Christian saw seven different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Nolan Espinosa, who went 3-for-4 with two RBI and one double. Another was Cody Baltgalvis, who went 1-for-3 with two runs and one double.

As for Francis Parker, the win snapped their losing streak at four games and leaves them with a 6-8-1 record. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory they have posted since April 1st.

On Francis Parker's side, the team relied heavily on Ryan Wyly, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base. Wyly is becoming a predictor of the Lancers' success: when he posts at least two runs the team is undefeated (and 3-8-1 when he doesn't). Joseph Jacques also deserves some recognition as he got his first hit of the season.

While Maranatha Christian had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair's next game is a rematch scheduled at 3:30 p.m. on Friday.
