The Tullahoma Wildcats will be taking part in a tournament against the Spring Hill Raiders at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday. Tullahoma is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.
Spring Hill's hitters are going to have their work cut out for them on Thursday: Tullahoma hadn't allowed a single run the last three times they've hit the field. Tullahoma never let Brighton get on the board and left with an 8-0 victory on Tuesday. The result was nothing new for the Wildcats, who have now won four contests by six runs or more so far this season.
Mason Bratcher made a splash while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out 14 over seven innings pitched. Bratcher was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.
Bratcher wasn't the only one making solid contact as five players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Andrew Fulmer, who scored a run while going 2-for-4. Fulmer also hit a double, marking his first of the season.
Meanwhile, Spring Hill posted their closest win since April 8, 2024 on Tuesday. They had just enough and edged out Franklin County 10-9.
Ethan Christie looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent : he hasn't given up more than one earned run in six consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Keegan Yoakum was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs. Those five RBI gave him a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Will McGlacken, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double.
Tullahoma's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 4-6. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Spring Hill, they now have a winning record of 4-3.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Tullahoma has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 8.5 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Spring Hill struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Tullahoma was able to grind out a solid win over Spring Hill in their previous matchup back in April of 2023, winning 6-1. Will Tullahoma repeat their success, or does Spring Hill have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
