Preview: Ida Baker Bulldogs vs. Canterbury Cougars
Ida Baker and Canterbury are an even 3-3 against one another since November of 2016, but not for long. The Ida Baker Bulldogs will head out on the road to take on the Canterbury Cougars at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Ida Baker has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
Ida Baker can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent match on Friday. They claimed a resounding 66-29 victory over Island Coast at home. Ida Baker's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.
Maia Berdebes was her usual excellent self, dropping a triple-double on 15 points, 12 rebounds, and 13 steals. She hasn't dropped below two steals for 11 straight games. Alexandra Reuss was another key contributor, scoring 16 points.
Meanwhile, it may have taken overtime to finish the job, but Canterbury ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 58-50 victory over First Baptist Academy. The win was just what Canterbury needed coming off of a 51-28 loss in their prior contest.
Ida Baker pushed their record up to 12-4 with that victory, which was their third straight at home. They've been dominating during the games in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 27.67 points. As for Canterbury, their win bumped their record up to 10-4.
Ida Baker skirted past Canterbury 42-39 when the teams last played back in January of 2023. Will Ida Baker repeat their success, or does Canterbury have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
