Softball Recap: Scott Takes a Loss

Scott had lost 11 straight at home dating back to last season, but on Tuesday they dropped down to 1-15-1 to make it 12. They came up short against the Anderson County Mavericks, falling 23-0. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Highlanders of the 10-1 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2025.

As for Anderson County, the victory got them back to even at 14-14. Their hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.

For Anderson County's part, Addison Grooms looked comfortable as she struck out six batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. That's the most strikeouts Grooms has posted since back in April of 2025.

On the hitting side, Kara Waddell was a standout: she went 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one triple. Rilynn Benson was another key player, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base.

While Scott had to take the loss, they won't have to wait long to give it another shot: the pair will be back at it again later today.
