Basketball Game Preview: Cochranton Cardinals vs. Jamestown Muskies

The Cochranton Cardinals and the Jamestown Muskies will compete for holiday cheer at 7:15 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Cochranton's favor is that they have posted at least 55 points in their last four matchups.

It was a proper cat-fight when Cochranton challenged Maplewood on Wednesday. The stars were shining brightly for Cochranton in a 67-49 win over Maplewood. The contest marked the Cardinals' most dominant victory of the season so far.

Walker Carroll was his usual excellent self, going 7 for 16 on his way to 21 points in addition to five assists and five boards. His evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Rynd, who went 6 of 12 on his way to 12 points and seven boards.

Cochranton smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least eight offensive boards in ten consecutive games dating back to last season.

Meanwhile, Jamestown was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their fourth straight loss. They might have been a little too into the holiday spirit, gifting Commodore Perry an easy 48-24 win.

Cochranton now has a winning record of 3-2. As for Jamestown, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-5.

Cochranton strolled past Jamestown in their previous meeting back in December of 2023 by a score of 55-39. Does Cochranton have another victory up their sleeve, or will Jamestown turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
