Softball Game Preview: Horizon Christian vs. Eminence Eels

Horizon Christian will square off against the Eminence Eels at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.

Horizon Christian's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They blew past Indianapolis Shortridge 10-0. The win was just business as usual for Horizon Christian, who after nine games remain undefeated this season.

Lucy Long made a splash while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out seven over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going a perfect 2-for-2 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

In other batting news, Brooke Wrightsman was a standout: she went 2-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double. Abby Brown was another key player, going 2-for-3 with two runs, two doubles, and one RBI.

Horizon Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .556. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Indianapolis Shortridge only posted an OBP of .067.

Meanwhile, Eminence came tearing into Saturday's match with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16.3 runs), and they left with even more momentum. Everything went their way against the Athenians as they made off with a 7-1 victory.

Eminence pushed their record up to 5-3 with the win, which was their third straight at home. The home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 0.3 runs on average over those games. As for Horizon Christian, their win bumped their record up to 9-0.
