Palisades and Venice are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Dolphins are taking a road trip to challenge the Gondoliers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Palisades knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 31 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Venice likes a good challenge.
If Palisades beats Venice with 35 points on Friday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Dolphins took down Westchester 35-19 on Friday. The win continues a trend for the Dolphins in their matchups with the Comets: they've now won nine in a row.
Palisades' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Demare Dezeurn, who picked up 181 receiving yards and a pair of scores. Dezeurn's longest reception was for an incredible 76 yards. Harrison Carter was another key back, gaining 111 total yards and two touchdowns.
Special teams also played a big role in the game for Palisades, adding 11 points to the final score. The biggest highlight from special teams (and perhaps the team as a whole) came courtesy of Dezeurn, who ran a kickoff back for a touchdown.
Venice not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since October 11, 2024 (when they won 42-0). They put the hurt on University with a sharp 27-7 victory.
Venice's win came from a few key players Palisades will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Bennett Dome, who threw for 137 yards and three TDs. His passing game has become a key predictor of Venice's success: the team is 2-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 1-2 otherwise.
Palisades' record is now 6-0. As for Venice, the win got them back to even at 3-3.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's game: Palisades has been excellent in the air this season, having averaged 288.2 passing yards per game. It's a different story for Venice, though, as they've been averaging only 138 passing yards. How will they fare against such a dominant passing game?
Palisades and Venice were neck-and-neck in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, but Palisades came up empty-handed after a 45-44 loss. Can the Dolphins avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
