Matanzas is 8-2 against Mainland since April of 2022 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Pirates will host the Buccaneers at 7:00 p.m. Matanzas has now lost seven straight, leaving the team hunting for their first win since March 6.

Palatka hit Matanzas with a five-run fifth inning on Friday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Pirates took a 7-2 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Panthers. That's two games in a row now that the Pirates have lost by exactly five runs.

Wiley Conner was cooking despite his team's loss, going 2-for-3 with two RBI.

Meanwhile, Mainland had to endure a three-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They had just enough and edged out Taylor 7-6. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Buccaneers have posted since February 26th.

Elijah Burgess was excellent, getting on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs. Mainland is 2-1 when Burgess posts two or more runs, but 2-13 otherwise. Kholton Cost was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two RBI and one run.

Matanzas' defeat dropped their record down to 2-14. As for Mainland, their victory bumped their record up to 4-14.
