Baseball Recap: Old Forge's Loss Ends Four-Game Winning Streak at Home

Old Forge came into their game on Thursday off a hard-fought close win, but unfortunately suffered a serious change of fortune. They came up short against the Mid Valley Spartans, falling 7-1. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Devils of the 9-8 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in April of 2024.

Old Forge got a good showing from Colin Mulkerin, who tossed 3.2 innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Mulkerin has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one hit in three consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Old Forge saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Angelo DiMauro, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Old Forge's loss ended a four-game streak of wins at home dating back to last season and dropped them to 2-2. As for Mid Valley, their win was their seventh straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 4-1.

Looking ahead, Old Forge will face off against Western Wayne at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Blue Devils are facing the Wildcats at the right time seeing as the Wildcats are stuck on a three-game losing streak. As for Mid Valley, they will square off against Dunmore at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Bucks will roll in looking for their eighth straight victory, something the Spartans surely won't give up without a fight.
