Jasper won the last time they faced Lawrence County and things went their way on Friday too. The Vikings simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Red Devils 49-7. That 42 point margin sets a new team best for the Vikings this season.
Leading Jasper to victory were Lincoln Smothers and Zion Coger. Smothers rushed for 26 yards and a pair of touchdowns, while Coger rushed for 90 yards and two TDs on only eight carries. That's the most rushing touchdowns Coger has posted since back in August of 2024.
Despite the defeat, Lawrence County saw an underclassman step up: freshman Tavian Jones rushed for 119 yards and one score. Jones was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 60 yards.
The win made it two in a row for Jasper and bumps their season record up to 8-2. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 55.0 points over those games. As for Lawrence County, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 3-7.
Looking ahead, Jasper will square off against Gadsden City at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lawrence County does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
