Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Mepham couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. The contest between the Pirates and the Long Beach Marines didn't end well, with the Pirates falling 27-13. The Pirates' defeat signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.

Mepham's loss dropped their record down to 7-2. As for Long Beach, the victory (which was their seventh in a row) raised their record to 8-2.

Mepham does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Long Beach, they will square off against Garden City on Saturday. The Marines will need to watch out since the Trojans have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season.
