Volleyball Recap: Excel Christian Academy Spartans vs. Hillsborough Baptist Lions
Excel Christian Academy waltzed into their contest on Tuesday with three straight wins... but they left with four. They came out on top against the Hillsborough Baptist Lions by a score of 3-1. Surprisingly, this marked the Spartans' fifth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor.
Excel Christian Academy was dominant in they sets they won, taking each by at least ten points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-14, 25-11, 25-15.

Excel Christian Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Karlene Fernandez out in front who had six kills and two aces. Those six kills gave Fernandez a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Helen Pena, who had four aces.
They weren't the only good servers: Excel Christian Academy was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 18 aces. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now served at least 11 aces in four consecutive matches.
The victory was their first on the road , bumping their record up to 4-5. As for Hillsborough Baptist, they are on an eight-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-5.
Coincidentally, Excel Christian Academy and Hillsborough Baptist will both be playing Faith Christian Academy the next time they take the court. The Lions will host the Falcons at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Spartans will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
