Basketball Game Preview: Mount Desert Island Trojans vs. Hermon Hawks

The Mount Desert Island Trojans will venture away from home to challenge the Hermon Hawks at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Hermon took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Mount Desert Island, who comes in off a win.

Mount Desert Island will bounce into Tuesday's contest after beating Old Town, who they had gone 2-7 against in their nine prior meetings. Mount Desert Island snuck past Old Town with a 62-56 win on Friday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Trojans.

Meanwhile, Hermon was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They took a hard 73-56 fall against Caribou. While losing is never fun, the Hawks can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Maine basketball rankings (they are ranked 40th, while the Vikings are ranked first).

Mount Desert Island's victory bumped their record up to 8-5. As for Hermon, their defeat dropped their record down to 6-8.

Mount Desert Island came up short against Hermon in their previous meeting back in December of 2024, falling 58-53. Can Mount Desert Island avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
