Baseball Recap: Luther Prep Comes Up Short

Luther Prep suffered their closest defeat since April 27, 2024 on Saturday. They fell just short of the Cambridge Bluejays by a score of 13-11. The Phoenix were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bluejays apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in April of 2019.

Micah Schultz stepped up to lead a balanced group of hitters: he scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Another player making a difference was Noah Bauer, who scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances.

Luther Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Cambridge, they pushed their record up to 2-0 with the win, which was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season.

Luther Prep and Cambridge will both get their first taste of in-conference action in their upcoming games. The Phoenix will face off against rival St. John's Northwestern Military Academy at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday. Meanwhile, Cambridge is set to take on their familiar foe Belleville at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
