Baseball Game Preview: Golden Valley Cougars vs. Hughson Huskies

The Golden Valley Cougars will head out on the road to challenge the Hughson Huskies at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday.

Last Tuesday, Golden Valley didn't have quite enough to beat Beyer and fell 7-6. The Cougars have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Golden Valley saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Zachary Barden, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.

Meanwhile, Hughson put another one in the bag on Thursday to keep their perfect season alive. They walked away with a 5-2 win over Bear Creek.

The team relied heavily on Beau Blake, who scored three runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. What's more, he posted two doubles, the most he's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Bryce McDaniel, who went 1-for-3 with two RBI and one double.

Hughson hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Bear Creek struck out 13 times.

Hughson pushed their record up to 6-0 with the victory, which was their third straight on the road. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Golden Valley, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-2.

Golden Valley came up short against Hughson when the teams last played back in April of 2024, falling 8-5. Can Golden Valley avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
