Highland's game on Tuesday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Thursday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Hammond Morton Governors a 9-0 shutout. The Trojans not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since May 25, 2024 (when they won 10-0).

Highland got a great performance from Jakob Burleson as he didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over five innings pitched.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Nate Phillips, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one triple. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season. Another player making a difference was David Klapkowski, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases, one run, and one RBI.

Highland hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hammond Morton struck out seven times.

The victory was their first at home , bumping their record up to 2-5. As for Hammond Morton, they are on a six-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 2-6.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Highland will face off against Whiting at 4:30 p.m. on Friday. The Oilers have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 9.2 runs per game on average), something the Trojans will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Hammond Morton, they will challenge Wheeler at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. The Bearcats have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 7.83 runs per game on average), something the Governors will no doubt try to take advantage of.
