Soccer Recap: Avon Comes Up Short in High-Profile Matchup with Highland

Avon faced Highland in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Eagles lost 4-1 to the Hornets. Avon were not able to make up for their defeat to Highland from their previous meeting back in October of 2023.

Avon's goal came courtesy of Kaitlyn Buchino, who's now up to six this season.

Avon's loss dropped their record down to 7-4-2. As for Highland, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record up to 11-1-1.

Coming up, Avon will take on Avon Lake at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. As for Highland, they wasted no time getting back out on the pitch and have already played their next contest, a 2-2 draw against Magnificat on the 29th.
