Softball Recap: South Sumter Wins Going Away Against Hernando

South Sumter's game last Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They blew past the Hernando Leopards 11-1. The high-flying hitting performance was a huge turnaround for the Raiders considering their one-run performance the game before.

Raven Parker made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out seven batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits. Parker was also stellar in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.

In other batting news, Cadence Sellers was excellent, going 2-for-4 with two RBI and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in February.

South Sumter's victory bumped their record up to 14-8. As for Hernando, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 13-8-1.

Looking ahead, South Sumter will challenge Citrus at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. The Raiders' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Hurricanes have averaged an impressive 6.5 runs per game this season. As for Hernando, they will square off against Berkeley Prep at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (the Leopards 3.9, the Buccaneers 3.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.
