Baseball Recap: Plymouth Whitemarsh Victorious

Plymouth Whitemarsh lost to Quakertown on Tuesday, but they didn't allow them the same satisfaction on Wednesday. The Colonials won by a run and slipped past the Panthers 5-4.

Spencer Rosen and Jake Rauscher dominated on the mound. Rosen tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits, while Rauscher pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. What's more, Rauscher posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in March.

On the hitting side, Mason Eagland and Gabe Caucci did most of the damage at the plate: Eagland went 2-for-4 with one triple and two RBI, while Caucci got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs and one double. Caucci is becoming a predictor of Plymouth Whitemarsh's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 3-1 (and 3-5 when he doesn't). Another player making a difference was Cole Reilly, who went 2-for-3 with one run and one double.

Plymouth Whitemarsh has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 6-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.6 runs on average over those games. As for Quakertown, the loss snapped their winning streak at three games and leaves them with a 7-5-1 record.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: the Panthers beat Plymouth Whitemarsh by a score of 4-3 on Friday.
