Basketball Recap: East Gaston Takes a Loss + How To Watch

East Gaston extended their losing streak (dating back to last season) to eight on Tuesday, dropping them down to 0-2. They were outmatched by the Mountain Island Charter Raptors and fell 69-35. The Warriors were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-18.

Despite the loss, East Gaston still got an impressive performance from KJ Smith, who posted nine points. Amani Hayward was another key player, putting up eight points and eight rebounds.

As for Mountain Island Charter, their victory bumped their record up to 1-0. They not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since December 11, 2024 (when they won 66-21).

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Mountain Island Charter to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kyle Bridgewater, who almost dropped a double-double with 21 points and nine boards. Those nine rebounds gave Bridgewater a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of David Furlough, who had 14 points and five steals.

East Gaston has already played their next game, a 58-39 win against Chase on the 21st. As for Mountain Island Charter, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next contest, an 87-69 victory against North Hills Christian on the 20th.
