Softball Recap: Butler Comes Up Short

Butler lost against Myers Park back in March of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Butler took a 6-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of Myers Park. The Bulldogs have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Parker Lamb was huge while hitting and pitching even without the win. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over six innings while giving up just two earned (and four unearned) runs off four hits. She has been consistent : she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.

Lamb wasn't the only one making solid contact as three players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Peyton Bowar, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

Butler's defeat dropped their record down to 3-7. As for Myers Park, the victory (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Butler will face off against Independence at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Independence's pitching crew has only allowed 2.5 runs per game this season, so Butler's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Myers Park, they will take on South Mecklenburg at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Myers Park's pitchers better be ready for this one: South Mecklenburg has averaged an impressive 8.5 runs per game this season.
