Preview: College Park Cavaliers vs. The Woodlands Highlanders

College Park is 1-8 against The Woodlands since October of 2014 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The College Park Cavaliers will head out on the road to face off against the The Woodlands Highlanders at 7:00 p.m. College Park will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Texas Rankings (they are ranked 330th, while The Woodlands is ranked 41st).

After a string of three wins, College Park's good fortune finally ran out two Thursdays ago. They had to suffer through a rough 56-17 loss at the hands of Willis. College Park was in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 35-14.

College Park's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Sebastian Montoya, who rushed for 65 yards and two touchdowns, and Jayden Ogoli who rushed for 51 yards and two touchdowns.

Meanwhile, The Woodlands had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 33 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They claimed a resounding 70-7 win over Cleveland on the road.

The Woodlands can attribute much of their success to Mabrey Mettauer, who threw for 155 yards and three touchdowns on only nine passes. Mettauer is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last three games he's played. Quanell Farrakhan jr. was in the mix as well, providing The Woodlands with two touchdowns.

The Woodlands' win bumped their season record to 5-2 while College Park's defeat dropped theirs to 3-3.

College Park was taken down by The Woodlands 34-3 when the teams last played back in October of 2022. Can College Park avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
