Kirtland has been on the road for two straight, but on Saturday they'll finally head home. After both having extra time off, they and the Valley Christian Eagles will shake off the cobwebs and take on one another at 11:00 a.m. Kirtland will be strutting in after a win while Valley Christian will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Saturday, Kirtland narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past Cardinal 3-2.
The match was a true back-and-forth as no team won consecutive sets, but in the end it was Kirtland who won the one that mattered. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 22-25, 25-21, 19-25, 15-12.
Nina Alfieri continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines, getting 46 digs. She has been hot recently, having posted 13 or more digs the last 12 times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Javins, who had 17 digs, five aces, and a kill.
She wasn't the only good server: Kirtland was lethal from the service line and finished the game with 18 aces. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Cardinal only served 13.
Meanwhile, Valley Christian came up short against East Palestine on Thursday, falling 3-0. The Eagles have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
The final score came out to 25-4, 25-21, 25-19.
Kirtland has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight contests, which provided a nice bump to their 16-6 record this season. As for Valley Christian, their loss dropped their record down to 2-14.
