Basketball Game Preview: Jay County Patriots vs. Delta Eagles

Jay County hasn't had much luck against Delta recently, but that could start to change on Friday. Both will compete for holiday cheer at 7:30 p.m. Both come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

Jay County will bounce into Friday's contest after beating New Castle, who they had gone 1-6 against in their seven prior meetings. Jay County came out on top in a nail-biter against New Castle on Saturday, sneaking past 58-56. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Patriots.

Meanwhile, Delta waltzed into their game on Saturday with two straight wins... but they left with three. They managed a 48-42 victory over the Blue Devils.

Delta's win came from a few key players Jay County will need to keep an eye on. One of the most notable was Jordan Furney, who went 8 for 13 on his way to 18 points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Bronson Edwards, who almost dropped a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.

Jay County pushed their record up to 3-2 with the win, which was their eighth straight at home dating back to last season. The wins came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 54.0 points per game. As for Delta, their victory bumped their record up to 4-1.

Jay County suffered a grim 47-26 defeat to Delta in their previous matchup back in December of 2023. Thankfully for Jay County, D'Amare Hood (who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result?
