Baseball Recap: Andrews Find Success

Andrews won the last time they faced Monahans and things went their way on Tuesday too. The Mustangs came out on top against the Loboes by a score of 7-3. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Mustangs.

Auden Morales looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off two hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in 12 consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Kayson Luna and Evan Munoz did most of the damage at the plate: Luna went 2-for-4 with one triple, two RBI, and one run, while Munoz went 2-for-4 with two runs, one double, and one RBI. Munoz has become a key player for Andrews: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 8-9 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Rocky Stephens, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one RBI.

Andrews kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in nine consecutive games.

Andrews' win bumped their record up to 17-9. As for Monahans, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost eight of their last ten matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 8-15-1 record this season.

We've got plenty of inter-district action coming up soon. Andrews is set to face off against their familiar foe Greenwood at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Meanwhile, Monahans will take on rival Pecos at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
