Basketball Recap: Boyd Christian Broncos vs. Franklin Road Christian Minutemen
After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Sequatchie County, the Boyd Christian Broncos were happy to have found some success on Tuesday. They took down Franklin Road Christian 65-51. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Boyd Christian also won the last time the pair played back in December of 2023.
Leading Boyd Christian to victory were Brooke Kesey and Krista Chisam. Kesey almost dropped a double-double on 18 points and nine rebounds, while Chisam scored 19 points along with six rebounds and five assists. It was the first time this season that Chisam scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Paige Sweeten, who scored four points along with eight assists and four steals.
When it comes to explaining why Franklin Road Christian lost, one person who can't be blamed is Gracie Tidwell. Despite the final result, she dropped a double-double on 18 points and 14 rebounds. Tidwell is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed three or more in the last 12 games she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Presley Applegate, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Boyd Christian pushed their record up to 18-12 with that victory, which was their eighth straight at home. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.8 points per game. As for Franklin Road Christian, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-5.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Boyd Christian will face off against the Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Franklin Road Christian, they will head out on the road to face off against the Knights at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday.
