After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Pueblo West, Doherty was happy to have turned things around on Thursday. They walked away with a 3-1 win over the Vista Ridge Wolves. The Spartans have seen this before: they got the W the last time they saw the Wolves, too.

Doherty had a slow start but a hot finish: after dropping the first set, they turned around to win the next three. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 20-25, 25-21, 28-26, 25-17.

Brenna Moerman paced Doherty's offense, picking up 15 kills. Moerman got some help from Makari Cooper and her 24 assists. Moerman was also solid from the service line: she led the team with four aces.

Despite the loss, Vista Ridge saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Toryn Dempsey had 25 digs and five aces. Dempsey has been hot, having posted 15 or more digs the last eight times she's played.

Doherty moved to 4-5 with that victory, which also ended their five-match losing streak. As for Vista Ridge, their defeat was their third straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-7.

Doherty wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 3-2 win against Fountain-Fort Carson on the 23rd. As for Vista Ridge, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 3-0 loss against Rampart on the 23rd.
