Basketball Recap: Amanda Bates Leads a Balanced Attack to Beat Our Lady of Good Counsel

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bishop McNamara, Bishop O'Connell was happy to have turned things around on Saturday. They sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 59-57 victory over the Our Lady of Good Counsel Falcons. The high-flying offensive performance was a huge turnaround for the Knights considering their 20-point performance the game before.

Bishop O'Connell got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Amanda Bates out in front who posted 18 points. Those 18 points gave Bates a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Saleema Tinner, who had 13 points.

Bishop O'Connell moved to 10-6 with that victory, which also ended their three-game losing streak. As for Our Lady of Good Counsel, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-8.

Bishop O'Connell will look to defend their home court on Friday against St. Mary's Ryken at 7:00 p.m. Our Lady of Good Counsel has already played their next matchup (against Elizabeth Seton), but no score has been uploaded at the time of writing.
