Walled Lake Central had to kick off their season on the road on Thursday, but they showed no ill effects. They walked away with a 9-4 win over the South Lyon East Cougars. This was payback for the Vikings, who suffered a 15-0 defeat the last time these two teams met.

Katelynn Cole spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered four earned runs on five hits.

On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Jessica Fick, who scored two runs while going 2-for-4. Melanie Bigham was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while getting on base in three of her four plate appearances.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: South Lyon East beat Walled Lake Central by a score of 4-3 later that day.
