Football Game Preview: Norwich Free Academy Wildcats vs. New London Whalers + How To Watch

After both having extra time off, the Norwich Free Academy Wildcats and the New London Whalers will shake off the cobwebs and hit the field against one another at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday. New London took a loss in their last game and will be looking to turn the tables on Norwich Free Academy, who comes in off a win.

Norwich Free Academy's defense heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed last Friday. They claimed a resounding 33-0 win over Windham. Considering the Wildcats have won three contests by more than 20 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Norwich Free Academy's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aaron Driscoll, who threw for 113 yards and two touchdowns. Driscoll's passing game has become a key predictor of the Wildcats' success: the team is 3-1 when his passer rating is 100 or higher, but only 2-3 otherwise. Killian Menor got in on the action as well, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Norwich Free Academy's run defense was locked in: Windham could only muster 1.1 yards per carry. While three picked up at least three total tackles, Cameron Bell-Snow stood above the rest. He picked up 1.5 sacks and made three total tackles (2.0 for loss). Norwich Free Academy didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 8.6.

Norwich Free Academy didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off two passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Nyrell Ross and Menor. Menor got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.

Meanwhile, New London fell victim to Fitch and their airtight defense last Saturday. They were beaten by the Falcons 45-0. The Whalers have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Norwich Free Academy has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 29.3 points over those games. As for New London, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-6.

Norwich Free Academy was taken down by New London 52-21 in their previous meeting back in November of 2024. Thankfully for the Wildcats, Demitrias Fletcher (who rushed for 199 yards on only 15 carries, and also picked up 101 receiving yards) won't be suiting up this time.
