Basketball Recap: Shai Markajani's Big Game Can't Quite Lead SA Roosevelt over Brandeis

SA Roosevelt lost against Brandeis back in February of 2024 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. The SA Roosevelt Rough Riders fell 72-59 to the Brandeis Broncos. The Rough Riders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Several Rough Riders players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Shai Markajani, who went 6 of 11 en route to 16 points. The contest was Markajani's fourth in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Isaac Castillo, who went 5 for 11 on his way to 13 points and five boards.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Brandeis to victory, but perhaps none more so than Finley Montoya, who went 10 of 16 en route to 23 points. Sean Tisdall was another key player, dropping a double-double on 18 points and 11 rebounds.

SA Roosevelt now has a losing record at 9-10. As for Brandeis, their win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-9.

SA Roosevelt will challenge Madison at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday. SA Roosevelt is facing Madison at the right time seeing as Madison is stuck on a four-game losing streak. As for Brandeis, they will face off against Reagan at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Reagan will roll in looking for their fourth straight victory, something Brandeis surely won't give up without a fight.
