Softball Recap: Anderson County Gets the Win

It may have taken nine innings to finish the job, but Anderson County ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They came out on top against the Union County Patriots by a score of 8-7 (the very same score they lost by in their prior game). For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Mavericks have posted against the Patriots since April 23, 2021.

Ashton Thurman and Kaycee Baldwin did most of the damage at the plate: Thurman scored two runs and stole three bases while going 3-for-4, while Baldwin scored two runs and stole a base while going 4-for-5. Those three hits gave Thurman a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Bella Brummit, who scored a run while going 3-for-5.

Anderson County's win bumped their record up to 15-9. As for Union County, their record now sits at 9-5.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Anderson County will welcome Clinton at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. The Dragons' pitching crew has only allowed 3.3 runs per game this season, so the Mavericks' hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Union County, they will look to defend their home field on Thursday against Scott at 6:00 p.m.
