Softball Recap: Monday's Win Is Lafayette's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

Lafayette has relied on a stalwart pitchers averaging 4.06 runs allowed per game, but that average took a hit on Monday. They walked away with a 15-12 victory over the Frederick Douglass Broncos. The high-scoring effort was just what the Generals needed considering they were shut out in their previous matchup.

Anna Clay Denton was incredible, going 2-for-4 with one home run, eight RBI, and two runs. Those eight RBI gave her a new career-high. Brynna Harris was another key player, going 1-for-4 with three RBI, one stolen base, and one double.

Lafayette has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 23-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Frederick Douglass, their defeat dropped their record down to 21-10.

Looking ahead, Lafayette will head out on the road to take on Great Crossing at 6:45 p.m. on Wednesday. Frederick Douglass does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
