Gar-Field and Hylton are an even 5-5 against one another since October of 2015, but not for long. The Red Wolves will host the Bulldogs at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Gar-Field has four straight victories, Hylton has three straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.

On Friday, Gar-Field didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Forest Park, but they still walked away with a 19-14 win.

Marcus Troy Hamlin had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 131 yards and one TD on only five carries, and also threw for 153 yards on 14 of 22 attempts.

Wins are hard to come by when you can't run the rock, something Gar-Field proved: they limited Forest Park to a paltry 2.1 yards per carry. The Red Wolves didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 13.2.

Meanwhile, Friday just wasn't the day for Hylton's offense. They were dealt a 67-0 loss at the hands of Charles J. Colgan on Friday. While losing is never fun, the Bulldogs can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Virginia football rankings (they are ranked 257th, while the Sharks are ranked 100th).

Gar-Field's victory bumped their record up to 5-2. As for Hylton, their defeat dropped their record down to 1-6.

Everything came up roses for Gar-Field against Hylton when the teams last played back in October of 2024, as the team secured a 60-0 win. Will the Red Wolves repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
