Baseball Game Preview: Senatobia Warriors vs. Winona Tigers

The Senatobia Warriors will head out to challenge the Winona Tigers at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. Senatobia is coming into the matchup hot, having won their last four games.

While Senatobia didn't have the best season last year (they finished 11-20), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past. They blew past Horn Lake 10-0 on Friday. The Warriors not only won on Friday, but they posted their biggest win since March 19, 2024.

Meanwhile, Winona came up short against Humphreys County on Friday, falling 12-2.

Winona saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gavin Vance, who scored a run while going 1-for-2. Vance also hit a double, marking his first of the season.

Even though they lost, Winona hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Humphreys County struck out seven times.

Senatobia pushed their record up to 6-3 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.7 runs over those games. As for Winona, they have traveled a rocky road recently, having lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-3 record this season.

Senatobia took their win against Winona when the teams last played back in April of 2022 by a conclusive 17-5. The rematch might be a little tougher for Senatobia since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
