Basketball Game Preview: Conneaut Spartans vs. Andrews Osborne Academy Phoenix

The Conneaut Spartans are taking a road trip to take on the Andrews Osborne Academy Phoenix at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many points in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

On Monday, Conneaut was beaten by Perry 54-23. The loss continues a trend for the Spartans in their matchups with the Pirates: they've now lost four in a row.

Meanwhile, Andrews Osborne Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Friday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They took a blow against Cornerstone Christian, falling 55-24. While losing is never fun, the Phoenix can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 660th, while the Patriots are ranked 234th).

Conneaut will need focus on slowing down Alejandra Gil, one of several Andrews Osborne Academy players who made an impact when they last played. She posted ten points and five steals. That was a full 41.7% of Andrews Osborne Academy's points, marking the seventh time in a row she's had more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Jamiyah Dye, who scored eight points and three steals.

Conneaut's loss dropped their record down to 7-13. As for Andrews Osborne Academy, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-7.
