Recap: St. Joseph Flyers vs. TMI-Episcopal Panthers
The St. Joseph Flyers had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 23.3 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They were the clear victor by a 49-28 margin over TMI-Episcopal. The result was nothing new for St. Joseph, who have now won three contests by 21 points or more so far this season.
Despite the defeat, TMI-Episcopal saw an underclassman step up: Grant Sweeney rushed for 95 yards on only nine carries, and also threw for 210 yards and two touchdowns. Max Pena was another key contributor, rushing for 36 yards and two touchdowns.
St. Joseph now has a winning record of 5-4. As for TMI-Episcopal, their defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 2-6.
St. Joseph will square off against St. Michael's at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Texas (St. Michael's is ranked 1000th, while St. Joseph is ranked 982nd). As for TMI-Episcopal, they will be playing in front of their home fans against Regents at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Regents knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past eight games -- so hopefully TMI-Episcopal likes a good challenge.
