Football Recap: Dynamic Duo of Anissa Zavala and Nala Wysinger Lead Johnson to Victory

Even if it wasn't a dominant performance, the Johnson Warriors beat the Laguna Creek Cardinals 19-14 on Tuesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Warriors.

Johnson was led to victory by Nala Wysinger and Anissa Zavala. Wysinger rushed for 51 yards and one touchdown, while Zavala threw for 127 yards and a pair of TDs. What's more, Zavala racked up 107.7 passer rating, the most she's had since back in October of 2024.

Johnson didn't go easy on the quarterback and picked off three passes before the game was over. The picks came courtesy of Zavala and Aliyah Vang.

Johnson's victory bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Laguna Creek, they are on a nine-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Coming up, Johnson will be playing in front of their home fans against St. Francis at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Laguna Creek, they will head out on the road to square off against Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
