St. Michael the Archangel gave their fans exactly what they wanted out of a home opener on Friday. They came out on top against the Summit Christian Academy Eagles by a score of 35-28. That's more bragging rights for the Guardians, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Gage Burgess went supernova for St. Michael the Archangel, rushing for 120 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.5 yards per carry, and also throwing for 190 yards and three touchdowns. Luis Tellado was another key player, gaining 119 total yards and two touchdowns.

St. Michael the Archangel wouldn't let Summit Christian Academy keep a hold of the ball as they managed to force two fumbles. St. Michael the Archangel can thank Collin Stanfield and Luca Bell for forcing both of them. When it comes to explaining why Summit Christian Academy lost, don't look at Michael Ward. Despite the final result, he threw for 331 yards and four touchdowns. Brayden Porter was Ward's top target, picking up 76 receiving yards and two touchdowns.

St. Michael the Archangel will host St. Pius X at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. As for Summit Christian Academy, they will face off against East at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Summit Christian Academy will come in still looking for their first win of the season.
