Softball Recap: Hobgood Charter Starts Season with Victory Against Jones

Hobgood Charter had to travel to play their first game of the season, but the final result was worth the trip. They narrowly escaped with a win as the team sidled past the Jones Trojans 7-5.

Haleigh Eason was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she didn't allow a single hit and allowed only two earned runs while striking out 15 over seven innings pitched. Eason was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, Kinsey Peel was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Three bases. while going 2-for-4. Emma Rae Cannon was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three RBI.

Jones' defeat was their fifth straight at home dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 1-2.

Hobgood Charter has already played their next game, a 7-2 victory against North East Carolina Prep on the 13th. As for Jones, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, an 11-1 win against Liberty Christian Academy on the 13th.
