Softball Game Preview: Kingwood Park Panthers vs. Crosby Cougars

Kingwood Park is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Tuesday. A feisty cat fight will be fought as Kingwood Park Panthers challenge Crosby Cougars at 1:00 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, they and Crosby will really light up the scoreboard.

Kingwood Park took a loss when they played away from home last Friday, but their home fans gave them all the motivation they needed on Friday. Their pitchers stepped up to hand Pasadena a 15-0 shutout. Considering the Panthers have won five contests by more than five runs this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Crosby). They put the hurt on Splendora with a sharp 17-1 win on Friday. Perhaps unsurprisingly given the team's high-flying offense, the game also marked the team's biggest victory of the season.

Mackenzie Ross was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing Two bases. while going 2-for-4. That's the most stolen bases she has posted since back in February of 2024. Another player making a difference was Hannah Daniel, who scored a run and stole Two bases. while going 3-for-3.

Crosby was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .452. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.

Kingwood Park's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-2. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 13 runs. As for Crosby, the victory made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 8-4.

Kingwood Park couldn't quite finish off Crosby in their previous meeting back in February of 2024 and fell 4-2. Can Kingwood Park avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
