La Vernia had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 12 points) and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They strolled past the Wimberley Texans with points to spare, taking the game 66-49. This was payback for the Bears, who suffered a 46-43 loss the last time these two teams met.

La Vernia's win bumped their record up to 9-1. As for Wimberley, they are on a four-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. La Vernia won't have much time to rest: their next contest is against Brackenridge at 12:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Bears will be up against the Eagles' rather soft defense (which has allowed 51.18 points per matchup), so fans could be in store for a big offensive performance. As for Wimberley, they will also get right back to it: they'll take on La Grange at 1:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Leopards' defense has only allowed 27 points per game this season, so the Texans' offense will have their work cut out for them.
