Baseball Recap: Horizon Takes a Loss

After flying high against Colonial last Wednesday, Horizon came back down to earth. The Horizon Hawks fell just short of the Deltona Wolves by a score of 7-6 on Monday. The Hawks' loss signaled the end of their three-game winning streak.

Horizon got a good showing from Victor Santeliz, who pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit.

At the plate, Jose Massanet made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one double. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Alex Galan, who scored two runs while going 2-for-3.

Horizon's defeat dropped their record down to 9-5. As for Deltona, they are on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a massive bump to their 5-8 record this season.

Horizon will challenge Martin County at 11:15 a.m. on Tuesday. As for Deltona, they and Mount Dora Christian Academy will meet in a dog eat dog contest at 4:15 p.m. on Tuesday.
