Despite a phenomenal run in the regular season, Summers County couldn't carry that success into this playoff game. They took a 7-3 hit to the loss column at the hands of the James Monroe Mavericks on Friday. The result was an unpleasant reminder to Summers County of the 1-0 defeat they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture two weeks ago.

Ben Lane was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 2.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and two unearned) runs off one hit. Lane was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing three bases while going 2-for-3. He is on a roll when it comes to stolen bases, as he's now stolen at least one in the last seven games he's played.

At the plate, Hudson Boggess was excellent, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

Summers County's loss dropped their record down to 18-9. As for James Monroe, the victory was the eighth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 19-7.
