The West Rowan Falcons will face off against the Robinson Bulldogs at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. West Rowan is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.
West Rowan came out on top against Central Cabarrus on Monday thanks in part to the team's impressive six-run first inning. The Falcons put the hurt on the Vikings with a sharp 11-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Falcons, who have now won 11 matchups by six runs or more so far this season.
Eli Graham looked comfortable as he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, West Rowan got a massive performance out of Brice Knox, who went 2-for-3 with two stolen bases, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Luke Ponczka, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
West Rowan always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Central Cabarrus only posted an OBP of .263.
Meanwhile, Robinson hadn't done well against Carson recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Monday. The Bulldogs had just enough and edged out the Cougars 3-2. The game was the first time the Bulldogs have beaten the Cougars on their field since April 5, 2024.
Robinson saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Aury Greenfield, who went 1-for-4 with one run and one double.
West Rowan is on a roll lately: they've won 12 of their last 13 games. That's provided a nice bump to their 21-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.3 runs over those games. As for Robinson, their win bumped their record up to 11-13.
Robinson's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: West Rowan hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .370. It's a different story for Robinson, though, as they've only averaged .257. Will they be able to contain West Rowan's hitters?
West Rowan was able to grind out a solid victory over Robinson in their previous meeting on April 8th, winning 5-1. Will the Falcons repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
